As a railway contractor, we not only work on the tracks but also carry out work around the tracks. This is also the case for the project in the Rotterdam Botlek and Europoort, where Swietelsky Rail Benelux commissioned by ProRail has installed a new fire extinguishing system. Together with our partners -including SafeLines and Hamer Infra- we have implemented a fire pipeline system including the fire pipeline, fire hydrants, and new pump pits.
We have also installed light masts within this project, secured the yard by providing it with new fencing -with a gate to the fire hydrant- and new emergency access routes have been constructed. By adding a staircase to the guide rail and a steel slope staircase, the fire hydrant is easily accessible in case of an emergency. A great example of collaboration with our partners and among colleagues from our disciplines Cables & Pipelines, Train Security, Overhead Line, Energy Supply, and Track.
