Modernization of the Kassel-Fulda high-speed line

26.06.2023

A joint project of Swietelsky subsidiaries from Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands brings a breath of fresh air to the High-Speed Line - HSL SFS1733 between Kassel and Fulda. The team is renewing a total of 163 kilometers of track to prepare the high-speed line for the future.

With the extensive renovation of this last section of the Hannover - Würzburg line, Deutsche Bahn is investing in a modern and efficient infrastructure. The work continues day and night. "We have a very limited construction area, with 27 tunnels and 18 bridges. In terms of general conditions, the measure is incredibly demanding," explains general project manager Sven Schaaf from Deutsche Bahn.

Exchange of expertise for success

"To be allowed to carry out a project like the restoration of the Kassel-Fulda railway line as an individual company is a special sign of trust from our client Deutsche Bahn. Therefore, we have assembled an international team from Swietelsky for this demanding task," says Peter Gal, COO Bahnbau at Swietelsky. The collaboration between Swietelsky Bahnbau Germany, Swietelsky Rail Benelux, and Swietelsky Bahnbau Austria is an excellent example of cross-border sharing of knowledge and capacity and the exchange of expertise. Together, we are working on modernizing the high-speed line to provide passengers with an even more comfortable and efficient travel experience. Swietelsky contributes its extensive know-how and years of experience in the construction sector to make the project a success.

RUS 1000 S - the world's most modern construction train ensures efficient work

The modernization of the ICE line requires powerful machines that enable precise and efficient work. This is where the RUS 1000 S comes into play. With impressive power and technical finesse, the tracks are renewed and brought up to date: where multiple construction machines were previously needed on rails, there is now an all-in-one solution.

Swietelsky shapes the future of rail transport

As a leading construction company, Swietelsky not only aims to execute excellent construction projects but also to promote the development of rail transport. By participating in this large German project, Swietelsky contributes to the sustainable improvement of public transport and the development of future-oriented solutions.

Our team, together with the unique use of machines, sets new standards in the modernization of the high-speed line. Together, we shape the future of rail transport and are proud to contribute to more efficient and sustainable mobility.
