PM1000 applied foundation layer between Culemborg and Geldermalsen: drone footage!

28.07.2022

For two weeks, the PM1000, one of the longest working trains in Europe, was operating in the Netherlands: between Culemborg and Geldermalsen. Commissioned by ProRail, Swietelsky is carrying out major maintenance on the track to stabilize the line. With the PM1000, we applied a new foundation layer - PSS, Planum Schutz Schicht - over a length of two times 4.5 kilometers under the track.

This factory on wheels lifts the track, removes and washes ballast, applies the PSS, and places the track and ballast back. All materials and tools for this are available on board. The train, along with a permanent crew of 22 team members, applied approximately 35 meters of PSS per hour. The track between Culemborg and Geldermalsen will remain out of service until Saturday, August 6.
