In the past period, there has been a lot of hard work on the project "Railway Doubling Heerlen-Landgraaf". The new viaduct for the Kissel in Heerlen is being built next to the railway and will be slid into place during the nine-week service interruption. This nine-week service interruption (period during which no trains are running) is from March 5 to May 8, 2022. The railway viaduct over the Euregioweg will be widened so that an additional track can be laid here later. Construction of the new viaduct in Landgraaf is also in full swing! In March, the viaduct will be moved to its final location.
Next weekend, from Friday, January 28 to Monday, January 31, there will also be a service interruption. During this service interruption, we will, among other things, place the foundation of the new track behind the gardens of the houses on Schaesbergerweg in Heerlen, between Euregioweg and Spoorstraat, and at Landgraaf station. We will also install signal boxes, work on switches, and carry out preventive maintenance on the existing track. In addition, we will remove greenery at the height of Patronaatstraat in Landgraaf and excavation and earthworks will take place at various locations.
Hard work is being done, and it is clearly visible!
